WHO CAN ATTEND RECOVERY COURT?
A person must have pending charges in Sumner County, because they must be court-ordered into Recovery Court. A person is court-ordered into the program by the designated Judge and the District Attorney’s Office.
HOW CAN I GET INTO THE PROGRAM?
A referral must be made through the District Attorney’s office or through your attorney or the judge.
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
To qualify for the Recovery Court Program you must be 18 years of age or older.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM RECOVERY COURT?
This is a hard program! You must really want to change your life to succeed in this program. The program is designed to give you all the information you need to make those changes. The staff is here to provide as much support as you need. But, ultimately, whether you succeed in the program is up to you.
I HAVE TRIED OTEHR PROGRAMS – HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT?
The Recovery Court Program is a 12-month program through General Sessions and a 15-month program through Criminal Court. The participants must report to the judge weekly and see staff members almost on a daily basis. Random drug screens are possible 7-days a week. Recovery Court carries the possibility of returning to jail for the duration of your entire sentence if you are not successful in this program.
